| Trinity-First United Methodist Church is a blending of two large churches of Methodism coming together in 1979 as one downtown church to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of El Paso, Texas. Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church, South, was established in 1881 with its first building at the corner of Texas and Stanton Streets in downtown El Paso. It was the beginning and the opening “bud” of Methodism in the sleepy, adobe town of dual-culture in far West Texas. A bronze plaque now marks this historic location on the El Paso History walk. Twenty-five years later, in 1906, Trinity moved into a new church at the corner of Mesa and Yandell Streets where its mission continues today. |
